Brighton & Hove   City Council ha s  an opportunity to bid for extra revenue funding for short breaks this financial year, providing we can spend it by the end of March. We would need to submit a business case to DCSF by Friday 8 January 2009. All business cases will then be assessed by them, and local authorities informed of whether the additional funding will be provided by the end of January 2010. The funding must then be used by end of March 2010, so it only gives a very short window.

Funding can be spent on short breaks, or any additional staffing capacity or training connected with short breaks. This is not Capital funding.

We have not been given an indication of an amount available to us, although last year we were awarded an additional £30k, so that may give an indication. I am happy to receive bids from you for £5000 and upwards.

If there is anything you would like us to bid for funds for, given the above constraints, please could you complete the information below, and return it to me by close of play on Tuesday 22nd. December so I have time to collate the responses and form into a business case. (It would be helpful if you could let me know also if you are not going to submit a bid, so I know what I am expecting).

Thank you,

Sharon Sartin.
