Love Parks 2010
The annual campaign Love Parks Week at the end of July provides us all with an excellent opportunity to showcase our local green spaces and the resources they need. Please organise local events and issue a press release (templates available here) to promote it. In 2009, the campaign, co-ordinated by national parks charity GreenSpace, saw a record 600 events take place in UK parks with over 400,000 people joining in. The media coverage generated during the week reached almost 20 million people. Further information about Love Parks Week, including details of hundreds of the events already planned this year, can be found at www.loveparksweek.org.uk. Please visit the website and go to the ‘Get involved’ section for promotional materials and resources to help you organise an event.
To Support Love Parks Week, the National Federation of Parks and Green Spaces have produced two leaflets, ‘speak out for our green spaces’ and ‘standing up for our green spaces’.
These leaflets can be found on our webpage: www.green-space.org.uk/community/nfpgs/resources.php. Please circulate them as widely as possible to all Friends and Users groups, residents associations, voluntary and community groups, local authorities and councillors, MPs, green space workers, trade unions, charities and political organisations in your area. They have been produced by the federation – feel free to adapt for your own use.

Big Caterpillar eco-art project
You may or may not be aware of the Big Caterpillar eco-art project that took place last year – it was supported by EBRA and created by my company for Friend’s of St Andrew’s Church. Emily Kingston will be project managing this year and is part of the team for the Norfolk Square event. Emily is an experienced event manager for George Alexander Group Events Division and runs her own freelance event management company.
On the 24th April (Saturday) at 11.30am we will be erecting the Big Caterpillar for the last time as a farewell and thank you photoshoot to all who supported the project in 2009. The Mayor will be in attendance and will say a few words. The respective chairs of FOSAC and EBRA will be invited to say a few words.
